THC child protection policy

As part of our safeguarding policy Trafford Handball Club will

  • promote and prioritise the safety and wellbeing of children and young people
  • ensure everyone understands their roles and responsibilities in respect of safeguarding and is provided with appropriate learning opportunities to recognise, identify and respond to signs of abuse, neglect and other safeguarding concerns relating to children and young people
  • ensure appropriate action is taken in the event of incidents/concerns of abuse and support provided to the individual/s who raise or disclose the concern
  • ensure that confidential, detailed and accurate records of all safeguarding concerns are maintained and securely stored
  • prevent the employment/deployment of unsuitable individuals
  • ensure robust safeguarding arrangements and procedures are in operation.

Social media policy

  • I will be responsible for my behaviour when using the internet and social media at Trafford Handball, including the content I access and how I conduct myself.
  • I will not deliberately create, browse or access material that could be considered offensive or illegal. If I accidentally come across any such material, I will report this to a member of staff.
  • I will not use social media or the internet to send anyone material that could be considered threatening, offensive, upsetting, bullying or that is illegal.
  • I understand that I should only use the club’s official social media or and other communication channels to contact them and should not seek out individual members of staff or coaches.
  • I understand that all my use of internet and social media is potentially visible to everyone and that any issues involving my behaviour online may be addressed by my coach or other staff members at the club.
  • I will not give out any of my personal information (such as name, age, address or telephone number online), or that of anyone else.
  • I will not arrange to meet someone that I have met online unless accompanied by a member of staff or parent.
  • I will avoid using my mobile or smartphone during activities as I understand that it will have an impact on my safety and my opportunity to learn and achieve.

Use of photography and video

Publishing Images guidance

  • record images, they are aware of how the images may be used;
  • NEVER publish personal details (email address, telephone number, address etc) of a child with their photograph;
  • Only use images of players in suitable Handball clothing;
  • Try to focus on the activity rather than a particular child and where possible use images that represent all those involved in Handball.
  • Ensure that images reflect positive aspects of children’s involvement in Handball (enjoyment/competition etc);

THC Code of conduct players

  • All players must participate within the rules and respect officials and their decisions.
  • Respect the spirit of fair play in handball. This is more than playing within the rules. It also  incorporates  the  concepts  of  friendship,  respect  for  others  and  always participating with the right spirit.
  • All participants must respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
  • Participants should keep to agreed timings for sessions / activities.
  • Participants must wear suitable clothing – indoor trainers, suitable clothing/kit– for sessions, training and match sessions, as agreed with the session leader/coach.
  • Take personal  responsibility  to  ensure  that  they  are  suitably  insured  for  their activities
  • Participants must pay fees for sessions or events promptly.
  • Participants are not allowed to smoke on the provider’s premises or whilst representing the provider.
  • Participants are not allowed to consume alcohol or drugs of any kind on the provider premises or whilst representing the provider.

THC Code of conduct parents

  • Encourage your child to learn the rules and play within them.
  • Discourage unfair play and arguing.
  • Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results.
  • Never force your child to take part in activity.
  • Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding good performances of all.
  • Never punish or belittle a child for making mistakes
  • Support your child's involvement and help them to enjoy their activity.
  • Use correct and proper language at all times.
  • Encourage people always  to  settle  disagreements  amicably  without  resorting  to hostility or violence.  
  • Encourage and guide participants to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour
  • Respect the decisions of officials and teach young people to do the same.
  • Leave the coach to communicate with individual players on the field of play.
  • Show an  appreciation  for  volunteer  coaches  and  administrators  –  their  efforts contribute hugely to young people being able to participate.
  • Inform the team coach, manager, captain or, if there is one, another member of a management team of any new or changed injury, health or welfare issue which they consider is appropriate for them to know.

Covid-19 Return to Play

  • In all cases participants should follow government guidance applicable to their personal situation, additional local restrictions and in relation to travel to and from the venue.
  • Participants MUST NOT attend training if they, or anyone in their household, have:
    • A new and continuous cough
    • A high temperature
    • Loss of, or change to, their sense of smell or taste
    • Been asked to self-isolate by Public Health England or Track & Trace.
  • Players should arrive ready to train to minimise use of changing facilities at the venue.
  • Parents dropping off/picking up will not be able to enter the leisure centre. No spectators allowed at training or matches.
  • Participant should wear freshly washed sporting attire
  • Participants should bring their own equipment where possible and avoid sharing equipment.
  • Prior to training players must sanitise their hands and any equipment brought should be cleaned prior to use. Players will be asked to re-sanitise their hands throughout the training sessions.
  • Participants shall always practice social distancing. 2m is preferred but no less than 1m shall be maintained as a minimum.
  • After the session participants should leave the venue promptly. It is recommended that transport home be available from 15 minutes prior to the end of the session to facilitate this.
  • Participants should shower and change at home and wash clothes immediately after activity.
  • Goal keepers should have a change of training attire when goal-keeping work is envisaged.

THC GDPR Consent

In addition to the details provided via the online club registration form, Trafford Handball Club will collect information regarding:

  • records and assessment of any player rankings, grading or ratings, competition results, details regarding matches attended and performance (including that generated through player pathway programme)
  • any disciplinary and grievance information
  • records of your interactions with us such as telephone conversations, emails and other correspondence and your instructions to us
  • records of your attendance at any events hosted by us
  • images in video and/or photographic form

We share personal information with the following parties:

  • to any governing bodies or regional bodies for the sports covered by our club
  • the Government, police, law enforcement and security services, where we are required to do so by law or to assist with the investigation and prevention of crime and the protection of national security
